Red Ferrell was
diagnosed in April, 2000 with Hepatitis C. It was found during a
routine exam for a life insurance application.
This was confirmed in May, 2000, and Red began treatments on August
4th,
2000, and continued for 10 months.
The treatment is a light form of chemotherapy, and can make a person
very
ill. He was one that was badly affected my the medications.
He has been unable to work since. The Ferrell's have applied for
Social Security disability benefits, but being the government, they
can really drag things out, and it will be anywhere from another 60 -
90 days before they will know if they approve
his claim.
In the meantime they are living on what little bit of income his
wife Debbie makes, and were lucky enough to get approved for food
stamps. But they are unable to keep up with everything that needs to
be paid. The electric bill is behind, they are unable to
make house payments (parents have made some, but can't make any more),
they are driving an uninsured vehicle, the list just goes on from
there. A couple local churches went in on a starter for their Jeep
when it was broken and they couldn't get anywhere for over a week.
They have 2 young children. Tori, 5 1/2, just started
kindergarten, and
Cody is 15 months old.
Please help out
our goat community friends. We always ask ourselves why people don't
ask for help before things get so bad- The Ferrell's are asking for a
little help from us, let's help them out!
