R & D Saanens
We started with a single Saanan doe. She was one year old and the lady gave her to me for her first doe born. Which took 2 years to finally get. Our family loved her and pampered that doe. Her first sets of kids were bucks and so at 7 months we butchered them and ate them. Yum! They were good. We had never drank goat milk nor eaten goat meat. Both were a hit. Then I got into making cheese & yogurt. This too was a big hit. The first family gathering I took a dill/ garlic cheese ball and some crackers and that got the rest of the family excited about our cheese. For that Christmas I made cheese balls and goat soap baskets. They were a hit with everyone. Our third sets of twins were both does and we kept one and sold one. I took my doe to county fair this year and won everything that I was eligible for with this doe. She was a hit…..Then we had a catastrophe………. My doe fell down a hill and broke her neck. We were introduced to Boer goats at the fair. That got my husband excited and now we are slowly building that herd also. Our Saanens consist of right now a wither and a doe. The wither is my daughter’s showmanship goat and he also pulls cart. We are going to do an exhibition this year at our county fair on carting and pulling with our goat. We love the Saanan’s cause they are quiet and gentle. They love people and are great milkers. We are looking forward to being able to offer people a great production herd to choose from. I am Rhonda and my husband is David Rider. We have 8 children of our own and have recently started the process of adopting one of our foster daughters.

R & W FARMS
We, Tom and Brenda Rusk purchased our first farm in 1981. It had an old barn on it, sound, but looked bad. We decided to side the barn in red with white trim. Tom, jokingly said we were going to do all our barns in red and white and the R & W evolved. The original barn burned down in 1996, and has been replaced with a new 'Red and White' pole barn. We haven't gotten all of our buildings sided yet, but are working on that. One side note: My(Brenda) maiden name is Westover. We always tell everyone that on a bad day, the R&W stands for Rusk and Westover. I think Tom just wants top billing.

R Fainting Farm
We started out raising Spanish/Nubian cross goats and as we learned more about goat breeds we found out about the Myotonic goats. We quickly fell in-love with their cute antics and beautiful colors. We are Alan & Sharon Reeves so we decided the "R" would stand for Reeves. The herd name "R Fainting" came about when deciding how the registered goat's names would sound "R Fainting Snowflake" sounded great so that's how our name came about.

R R Resources
We chose the herd name "R R Resources" because my husband Rod and I (thus the R R for Roberts and Roberts) used all of our resources to come up with the money to start this herd of registered goats. Over the years since we bought our 1st registered goats in '97 back in Missouri we have continued to use all available resources to continue to raise goats here in Applegate, Oregon. : )

ROUNDABOUT MINIFARM
Hi! We are Linda Toivainen and Irving Walker, and we raise Nigerian Dwarf Goats in southern Maine. Linda, who loves all animals, has had goats since the early 1970's, starting out with a few unregistered Alpines for milk. Irving likes animals , but left to his own devices would probably have had only a few cats and/or fish as pets. In spite of Linda's large & diverse animal family, Irving married her in 1982. In 1987, Linda finally managed to buy a few Nigerian Dwarf Goats to start her own herd. (They were pretty rare at that time.) We needed a farm name, but were in the process of trying to find a home to buy. It often seemed like goals were reached in a roundabout way. And since we weren't sure where we would be living, but knew it would be "roundabout" the same area we lived in at the time, we thought Roundabout would be a good name. Because we were planning to concentrate mainly on miniature animals & birds, we added Minifarm. Since Linda's 2 hip replacements in 1997, we have had to cut back on the numbers of species, and the total numbers of animals that we have. We still have a few other animals as pets, and still raise our favorite breed of goat, the Nigerian Dwarf.

Rainbow Valley
Our little farm is called "Rainbow Valley" because we literally have lots of rainbows here during Oregon's rainy season! We have a small but high-caliber herd of Saanens, Alpines, and Nubians. We use bucks from Longman's (Nubian), and Emperor (Alpine & Saanen). We've been completely CAE negative for 15 years. Our kids (human & caprine!) get lots of love and attention! Please check out our website - and our reasonable prices!
