Two  weeks ago Paula Raines, of PRL Ponderosa in Montana, was once again diagnosed with breast cancer. Due to the size of the areas in question, two attending Doctors have recommended another mastectomy which has been scheduled for Jan. 10th, 2003 with further treatment indicated.

This could not have come at a worse time...Paula's husband was laid off from work on Friday (Dec 20th) until the company starts back up after the 1st of the year... he was told on or after the 6th.... and this could be longer.

Due to the previous cancer, she no longer qualifies for mortgage insurance, and has limited coverage with her husbands work insurance. Little to no insurance for the medication expenses. Immune boosting medications already started by the physicians were not covered by the insurance as it was deemed preventative and not necessary.

Paula has been right there in the forefront donating to all of the past fundraisers for our fellow goat breeders and most recently donated a very well bred kid to the Derrick auction. Always giving in a time of need...

Now she has a time of need...

I know it's right behind another fundraiser but we can't pick and choose when these things will happen to us. Our prayers are with Paula and her family... Paula, her 10 year old daughter and her husband need our support to get them through this.

Paula's statement sums it up: "I have worked hard to get where I am, and now fear a fate worse than any illness and that is to loose my home and my beloved goats."
